You will recall that a purported telephone call made to the African Independent Television (AIT) by a caller pretending to be a Boko Haram threatened to attack Lagos and Abuja in 72 hours. The Islamist militant sect Boko Haram has revealed that a purported telephone call made to the African Independent Television (AIT) by a caller pretending to be a Boko Haram spokesperson was fake.
A source close to the sect told Saharareporters that no one in the sect or any on its leadership initiated a call threatening to attack Lagos and Abuja in 72 hours.A Nigerian local TV station-African Independent Television- had played a phone call in which an individual claiming to be a representative of Boko Haram threatened to attack Lagos and Abuja in 72 hours.
The caller also requested that Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan unconditionally meet with the sect in Yobe state, without security, to discuss the terms of a ceasefire, but our most reliable source said the call was a prank pulled by individuals capitalizing on the hysteria created by Boko Haram's recent attacks in northern Nigeria. Meet our Demands or We Will Bomb Lagos and Abuja in 72 Hours –Boko Haram
We are swimming in dangerous waters in Nigeria and many of those living and doing business in the nation's Political and Commercial capitals - Abuja and Lagos - are in for some serious trouble as the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram, has threatened to destroy the two cities with bombs in 72 hours.
In a phone call to Africa Independent Television on Friday, they threatened to unleash bomb attacks in Lagos and Abuja unless President Goodluck Jonathan appears on AIT for an open discussion with them.
The phone call was broadcast on the AIT news at 8pm last night. According to someone who watched the news and posted his observations on Nairaland, the sect made some demands and promised to unleashed terror if the Jonathan Government does not comply:
(1) Goodluck Jonathan should act on the letter written to him by Boko Haram.
(2) Former Governor of Borno (Ali Modu Sheriff), former Minister of Police Affairs
and some PDP stalwarts in the North should be arrested and tried for terrorism.
(3) Government should create an open forum for dialogue at Abuja, open to the public.

They said they are ready to come to Abuja for dialogue provided it is an open one.
What do you think the President should do? Should he appear on AIT for open discussion with Boko Haram? Since they gave 72 hours for their demands to be met, what should be the right response from the Presidency to avert loss of lives and property?

Suspected Boko Haram bomb supplier arrested
Men of the State Security Service (SSS), Kano State command yesterday paraded a middle-aged man, Ayuba Usman, who was arrested for alleged possession of over 35 drums of highly inflammable chemicals suspected to be used in making improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other locally manufactured bombs.
The highly combustible chemicals along with other explosive substances were seized from the suspect following an intensive investigation by security agents that led to his arrest in Kano metropolis.
The state’s SSS director, Mr. Bassey Eteng said the suspect was arrested in an undisclosed market on Tuesday, following a tip-off by some concerned members of the community.
He added that the suspect was found through investigations to have close links with some extremist elements. “We have been following this situation very judiciously and painstakingly to be able to arrive at what is happening,” he added.
Bassey said that security had been beefed up in their effort to hunt down terrorists in the state by trailing their activities and movements in order to make the state safe for all.
He said based on statements made by high-profile suspects “we were able to know that the suspect, Ayuba Usman, has been providing chemicals to the extremist groups which they have been using to make explosive devices”.
